ICF LEARNING PORTAL: Did you know that there are hundreds of hours of archived virtual education sessions on the ICF website that are available for free to ICF members? And credentialed members – did you know that up to 16 hours of these archived sessions can count towards the “self-study” portion of renewing your ICF credential?
There are also live teleconference education sessions from around the world offered every month through the ICF website. These sessions are often free, or available for a small fee, and can provide Continued Coaching Education Units (CCEU’s) to be used towards renewal of your ICF credential. To search for upcoming education sessions, visit the calendar of live CCE sessions.
To review more information about the Continued Professional Development available, and how to use it towards your CCE, visit the FAQ page at:
The ICF Business Development Series (BDS) is a virtual series designed specifically to help you build, sustain, and expand a successful coaching practice. Attend BDS to learn how to build your brand, tools, business and platform with live webinars, year-round OnDemand content, and peer accountability groups to keep you motivated.
ICF EVENTS: in-person or virtual event are designed to inspire, educate and connect the coaching community. These valuable learning and networking opportunities benefit individual coaches and help advance the profession. Amplify your professional development and have an experience you won’t forget.
ICF ETHICAL STANDARDS
ICF has taken the lead in developing a definition and philosophy of coaching and establishing ethical standards among its members. The ICF has recently launched an updated Code of Ethics which went into effect on January 1, 2020. The Chapter invites all of our members to review the FAQs and the updated Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct to ensure we are all practicing to our best in our profession. Enter the Ethics Portal below to find information on the Code of Ethics, Ethics Community of Practice, complimentary Ethics course, and more.
CREDENTIALING INFORMATION
There are three ICF Credentials: Associate Certified Coach (ACC), Professional Certified Coach (PCC), and Master Certified Coach (MCC). Each credential requires a specific set of required hours of coach-specific training and coaching experience. Visit our Get Credentialed page for more details on obtaining or renewing your credential.

ICF PROFESSIONAL INSURANCE PROGRAM
Most large corporations and government departments now require that you maintain both Commercial General Liability (CGL) insurance and Errs and Omissions (E&O) Insurance. E&O insurance is an important risk management strategy. Maintaining E&O insurance demonstrates to your clients that you are serious about protecting them and your business.
E&O insurance does NOT cover claims related to bodily injury or property damages sustained by a third party. CGL insurance protects you for claims brought against you for bodily injury or property damage sustained by a third party (i.e., your clients or subcontractors).
The ICF-Vancouver Island Chapter is currently reviewing possible vendors appropriate for our Chapter members’ needs: a Canadian provider who also covers coaches who coach internationally. We will post a link to our preferred vendor in the coming months (2020).
In the meantime, for Canadian coverage, consider our current Chapter Partner Tru Shield Insurance.
Or you could consider the ICF Partner (member benefits) Westminster Insurance who offers professional liability insurance and essential business insurance for professional coaches and ICF Members in the U.S., Canada, UK and the Republic of Ireland. The coverage is underwritten by high-quality insurers and is available at very competitive premiums. Many additional modalities may also be added at no additional cost. ICF Member Benefit: Automatic qualification for professional liability insurance (United States, United Kingdom, Canada and Ireland only).
