Recap: Inspiring Coaches to Connect

October 14, 2018 was a picture-perfect autumn day in the valley. The sunshine was golden, the leaves a breathtaking array of colours, absolutely no wind so the water was like glass. It was a day begging you to be outside soaking up the beauty.  And I am very grateful that many coaches in the Comox valley chose to come together for our ICF chapter event: Inspiring Coaches to Connect.

We took the time to talk about our coaching niches, which ranged from entrepreneurs to adolescents and their parents, to career coaching, transition, resilience, and the medicine wheel.

The conversation turned toward mentor coaching, coaching supervision and peer coaching.  Ideas were exchanged, resources shared, real-life experience was leveraged (maintaining confidentiality of course), and the main theme emerged: WE ARE NOT ALONE.

Ever curious, we explored client intake processes, and the important conversation around mental health and how we ensure our clients are best supported (note: check out the ICF global website for some important information about when to refer our clients).

I appreciated the passionate exchange about professional coaching, credentials, and building awareness in the community.  A brainstorm ensued that brought forth ideas for greater exposure through small business expos, presentations, lunch and learns, laser coaching demos and coaching cafes.

The conversation wrapped up with a commitment to keep the conversation going, to maintain the connection – with a deep appreciation for one another and the willingness to be together advancing this profession we all love.

Two more Inspiring Coaches to Connect Events are coming up on November 5th – one in Ladysmith and one in Victoria. Check out our website’s Events Calendar for details and registration.
