“Why hire an ICF Credential-holder?”
Welcome to our directory of member coaches of the Vancouver Island Chapter of the International Coach Federation (ICF). As ICF members, we are governed by Codes of Ethics which establishes the professional code of conduct that you can expect as a client. ICF Member coaches are enrolled in or have at least 60 hours of coach specific training. “Credentialed” coaches (ACC, PCC, MCC) have additional training and experience that allow them to qualify for these designations.

Are you tired of feeling like you’re caught on a hamster wheel?
You run and run but it only makes the wheel spin faster. You have a career that leaves you no time for friends and very little time for your family. You’re disappointed in yourself because when you’re with your family, you’re on edge and you snap at them. Sometimes, you’ll look up and realize that you just had a conversation with someone but you have no idea what they said and worse, no idea what you said. Some days, it’s like a zombie has taken over your body. Your confidence has tanked. You have no energy. You know you can’t keep doing this but you don’t know where to start.
I can help. Visit http://www.erinacton.com/strategy to schedule a strategy session.
Kathleen Asher ACC, CECExecutive/Leadership Coach Symmetry Coaching
Welcome to Symmetry Coaching
Prior to launching my coaching practice, I had a rewarding career with the BC Public Service. My career focused on leading large-scale transformational change, including business transformation and information technology – with a strong passion for the ‘people’ side of things.
As an experienced leader and coach, I’m steeped in organizational change management, communications, and issues management. I work with people to build relationships, create a vision and goals with them so they can unleash their creativity to solve problems with outstanding results.
Others see me as a respected and inspiring strategic thinker, a strong communicator who consistently brings passion, integrity, and diplomacy to the table and uses both backbone and heart. My core values include authenticity, courage, curiosity, compassion, and connection; anyone who knows me, appreciates my positive approach, sense of humour, empathy and ‘spark’ for life (and some sassiness too)!
Why I became a coach:
It’s ALL about people for me. I love new ideas and possibilities and the opportunity to connect people and ideas, and build relationships – this is both my talent and passion!
I love to work with individuals and teams to discover new possibilities and navigate change. I’ve worked in both project and operational environments, and know how a keen focus on people and leadership achieves results. In the trenches I learned about overcoming obstacles, working with a variety of leadership and team dynamics and the importance of being authentic as a leader and in life. I’ve felt ‘stuck’ and ‘held back’ and experienced first hand what a difference being coached made for me.
I am an Associate Certified Coach (ACC) and member of the International Coach Federation (ICF), and a Certified Executive Coach (CEC) through the Royal Roads University Graduate Certificate in Executive Coaching Program.
I volunteer as a team coach for Leadership Victoria, a non-profit organization, who offer a Community Leadership Development Program to develop emerging leaders in the Greater Victoria area. I also volunteer for the Royal Roads University Executive Coaching Program.

Coaching is a passion for me and it allows me to fulfill my dream with each client I work with.
After my 24 year marriage ended in 2010 I learned a hard lesson, that I was a terrible communicator. As my coach training began with The Coaches Training Institute and afterwards as a Toastmaster, it became clear to me that as I learned about finding my Courage, and creating deeper Connections I was needing to improve how I Communicated. These became the cornerstones of my coaching business.
Today I help all types of people work through their fears around being vulnerable; I help them find their courage to try new things and make deeper connections with all of the relationships in their lives. Together we discover the value of being curious in your life and your relationships and why all of these skills can profoundly change your intimate relationships, your work or your family.
I provide my clients with a safe place to learn about themselves and, for often the first time in their lives, a relationship that is free of judgement. Together we explore what is no longer working in your life, we will dig into your values and whether they are being lived by/honored or ignored and how they help us to lead a more fulfilling satisfying life. We will discuss boundaries and if you don’t have any we will create them!!
As for me, I am passionate about life, about seeing it as an adventure, always wondering what is around the next corner. There is no BS with me, what you see is what you get, I am genuine and direct. Accountability and responsibility are two of my strongest values and you will see that when we work together.
By the way, I am happy to coach evenings and the occasional weekend.

- Started my journey working with and alongside children and youth.
- This rippled out to include facilitating family conversations + groups.
- This rippled out to include facilitating leadership and organizational teams.
- This rippled out to include facilitating multi-stakeholder community driven groups (at local, regional and provincial levels).
- This rippled out to include curriculum writing, workshop development and post- secondary instruction (Interpersonal Communications + Leadership my sweet spots). Co-wrote a book. Developed resource tool-kits and webinar training.
- Realized along the way that Coaching was the consistent approach to ALL of these experiences; Asking Questions. Being in Inquiry. Building Awareness. Identifying Strengths. Learning in relationship to another. Connecting the gut, head and heart. Creating space for exploration, creativity and reflection.
- Currently, I’m “at home” with the International Coach Federation and have enjoyed being involved as the Communications Director of the Vancouver Island Chapter (for 2016). Now, I can’t wait to see where the next ripple will lead!

“Emma helped me identify what was important to me and what I wanted out of the next 20 years of my life. After 3 months of coaching I left my employer and moved to a new city in the Okanagan to start a new chapter in my work life. My wife and I are happier than we’ve ever been and I put more time and energy into my family and kids. In short, I was able to organize what I really wanted and not just talk about it like it was some far off unattainable dream. I feel rejuvenated in a way I’ve never felt and am having the time of my life! I would recommend Emma to anyone who is looking for help in focusing on what they want out of their future and their life. It was definitely a worthwhile 6 months! Dreams can come true and Emma helped me start living mine. Signed, a faithful and happier”
– William Arndt, Roads Foreman
“Every once in a while an individual enters our life and touches us in a way that we are never again the same… Emma, you’ve influenced me and inspired me to accept myself and be comfortable enough to just be… These realizations may seem simple but have empowered me to have the life that I want by simply being me! This journey is so exciting, I want to thank you for your insight, wisdom, wit and tools to help me make sense of my life! And through this journey I’ve become friends with myself which has been the greatest gift! So thank-you Emma from the bottom of my heart!!”
– Angela Kailley, Teacher
“I am extremely thankful to know Emma-Louise and strongly recommend her services to anyone looking to get the most out of life they possibly can! She has been a tremendous support both personally and professionally. Her tools are simple, easy to use, and highly effective. What I like most about her coaching and her tools, is that I always walk away with an ‘action plan’ I can implement right away, from which I start seeing results almost immediately. Even though I consider myself already ‘happy’ with my life, working with Emma-Louise inspires me to reach an even greater level of happiness and not settle for anything; she uncovers barriers and desires I didn’t even realize I had. By inspiring the child-like creativity and dreams inside each of us, her methods help one to break free of the ‘daily-grind’ and instead enjoy this ‘adventure called life’ as much as one possibly can!”
